Haunted Houses

Denver is one of the best cities in the country if you love haunted houses. From exciting and not-too-scary haunted houses that are great for kids to over-the-top terrifying experiences that adults will love, there are no shortage of great Halloween attractions in the city.

Elitch Gardens: Fright Fest is a long-running Halloween haunt for all the coolest boils and ghouls who are looking for thrilling amusement park rides after the sun has gone down.

If you want to take your children to a fun and safe place for trick-or-treating and other fun activities, the Denver Zoo hosts “Boo at the Zoo,” with lots of family-friendly activities, including animal demonstrations! On October 24, you can go to Denver Union Station for the “Boonion Station Trick or Treat Parade” where the kids can stop at each shop in the station for candy, march in the costume parade, and maybe even win a prize for the best costume!

Pumpkin Patches and Corn Mazes

The Corn Maze at the Denver Botanic Gardens

While there isn’t a corn maze at the York Street Botanic Gardens, this corn maze on Deer Creek Canyon Road in Littleton is seven acres of fun! From all-ages family fun to spooky after-dark activities for older kids and adults including some scary movies, the Corn Maze has it all. If you’re a member of the Botanic Gardens, you get great member prices on all of the activities!

The Pumpkin Festival

The Corn Maze is also home to the Pumpkin Festival that takes place on October 11-13. It’s the best way to find the perfect pumpkin for carving, and there are lots of other things to see and do while you’re there. Take a hayride, let your kids get their faces painted, and play carnival games for a full day of autumnal awesomeness!

Make sure that you and your group are dressed for a wide range of weather — it can go from sunny and warm to chilly and rainy in no time flat.

Other Fun Halloween Activities

All across Denver there are businesses running specials or offering something unique to their patrons. It’s pretty easy to find scary movie festivals, Halloween-themed escape rooms, and locations that are purportedly haunted by real ghosts. The Stanley Hotel — the inspiration for the hotel that drives Jack Nicholson’s character to madness in “The Shining” — is only a short drive from Denver in scenic Estes Park.

If you prefer to spend time away from other people, there are lots of great opportunities for camping, even as the temperatures start to drop. If you aren’t ready for an overnight trip in the middle of autumn, taking a hike or spending time on the trails in and around Denver is a great way to spend a few hours doing something relaxing outdoors.

Make your Halloween special by trying something different this year. If you usually go to the same haunted house or corn maze, go to a different part of town and do something new — it might turn out to be a new favorite!

If you’re going on a trip in October (or at any other point in the year) make sure to choose ParkDIA when you need the fastest, closest, and most affordable DIA parking. Download our easy-to-use app and start saving on airport parking today. There’s nothing scary about that!
