When people start to dream of destinations that they’d like to visit, most envision a trip overseas, or at least out of the country. While we totally understand what makes these trips so desirable, there are countless places right here in the US that we believe are entirely worth organizing a trip to. Each state has something incredible to offer its visitors, but one of our favorite ways to really indulge in the beauty of the United States is by visiting the many national parks that our nation has available.
The team at ParkDIA wants to make sure that you know all of the great places to visit this year. That is why we’ve set aside some time to create a list of all the incredible national parks that are entirely worth visiting. Let’s get started.
Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks
California is known for its busy highways and high-cost of living, but those aren’t exactly things that make you want to go visit. Though crowded locations might make up a good chunk of California, there are still so many beautiful parts of the state that are entirely worth visiting. One of those places is Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park. This is, to the surprise of many, the highest summit in the contiguous United States.
One of the many reasons that we love visiting this national park is because of the 850 remote miles of trails that allow you to explore the deep canyons and beautiful forests. The sequoias in this part of California stand over 250-feet tall, showing you just how incredible our beautiful world is.
Though you can definitely get a glimpse at this slice of heaven just by Google searching, it’s something that you don’t fully understand until you take some time to head out of town and make a visit.
Grand Teton National Park
Wyoming is yet another state that isn’t exactly known for being the ideal destination, but, when it comes to national parks, it definitely makes its way to the top of the list. The Grand Teton National Park’s terrain rises 13,775 feet above Jackson Hole. If your family loves to get out and really enjoy everything that nature has to offer, then this is a national park that you need to take some time to visit. From the gorgeous crystal lakes along the 15-mile of the lake to the small glaciers scattered throughout, Grand Teton National Park is absolutely stunning and will leave you exploring for days at a time.
Something that is super nice about taking some time to visit Grand Teton National Park is the fact that they offer various accommodations for their guests. Whether you’d like to stay in a cozy cabin right outside the national park, you want to bring a tent to a campsite that has bathrooms, or you’re a bit more experienced and would like to go backcountry camping, you can do so here.
Mammoth Cave National Park
If you have some adventurers that are eager to get out and explore a national park, there’s no better place to go than Mammoth Cave in Kentucky. This is one of the world’s largest cave systems and one that is always worth spending some time visiting. As of right now, more than 400 miles of caves have been located and explored within the park. If you decide to head out to Kentucky and spend some time exploring the caves, you won’t be disappointed to know that the rangers out here will have countless tours that encourage guests to enjoy all that these caves have to offer. In some instances, you may find yourself having to squeeze and crawl through the tight spaces to get to the other side of a tunnel.
In the case that this doesn’t sound entirely enjoyable to you or there’s someone in your group that you know isn’t going to love the idea of exploring a cave, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the day. There is a 30 mile run of the Green and Nolin rivers that are absolutely perfect for kayaking, fishing, boating, canoeing, and cooling off in the refreshing waters. Either way, you can count on having a memorable time when you choose to visit Mammoth Cave National Park.
