Benefits of Flying vs. Driving

Benefits of Flying vs. Driving

When it comes to traveling, one of the first things that you need to figure out is how you’re going to get there. Depending on where it is that you’re going, there may be only one answer. For example, if you’re going to be traveling to Ireland, your best option is going to be to fly, while heading out on a weekend trip to Arizona allows you the opportunity to drive as well.

Here at ParkDIA, we are big fans of traveling and, in our opinion, flying is the only way to go. In today’s blog, we are going to touch on a few of the reasons that we think that flying is always the option that you should take advantage of when figuring out your travel plans.

Reason #1: Driving Costs More Than You’d Think

A majority of the times that people think driving is better than flying it is related to cost. While the cost of a flight may seem like a lot of money to front, you’d be surprised just how expensive road trips can be. This is the first reason that we think flying is better than driving: it’s more affordable.

When it comes to road trips, there are a few things that you need to take into consideration. For starters, gas. Gas is an inevitable part of driving, and it’s something that you need to factor in the financial planning of your trip. For starters, you’ll want to look at the price of gas where you’ll be driving, and figure out an average of how much it will cost to fill up your tank. Unfortunately, gas isn’t the only cost that you’re going to have to worry about.

Depending on how long of a drive you have ahead of you, you may also need to pay for a place to stay overnight as well as meals along the way. Once you factor in the number of people that you’re traveling with, and even if you’re going alone, it adds up. Again, we totally understand how it can feel like a lot of money to front when you purchase a plane ticket, but you’d be surprised how much more affordable it is in comparison to driving.

Reason #2: Wasted Time

When you take the time to plan your trip, you want to make the most of the time that you’ll be traveling. If you have a week of time off, the last thing that you want to be doing is wasting time by driving. This is reason number two that flying is better than driving — you waste time.

To make the absolute most of the time that you have dedicated to traveling, why not choose the option that is going to get you to your final destination the fastest. Even in the times where you’re traveling to a neighboring state, the flight time is going to be drastically less than the time it would take to drive.

At the end of the day, that means that you have so much more time to get out and enjoy the place that you’ve worked so hard to visit. We consider that a major win!

Reason #3: Cramped Space

Airplanes aren’t the most luxurious mode of transportation, and we get that. That being said, even coach seats on an airplane are going to be more comfortable than the cramped seats in a car. When you’re traveling with more than one person, you immediately increase the level of discomfort for your travel plans.

It’s understandable that money is a significant factor in creating travel plans; however, your comfort should be equally important. And now that we know flying is going to, more often than not, be cheaper than driving, why not opt for the additional space? Even in the times where you’re in a tight spot or in the middle seat of the row, your travel time is going to be much less than what you’d spend in a car. Ultimately, that means that your traveling just got a whole lot more comfortable when you upgrade to a plane.

Reason#4: You Don’t Eat Great

One of the best parts about traveling is the food that you get to enjoy. Even when you’re traveling to another state, there are certain restaurants and chains that you can enjoy that you aren’t able to here in Colorado. That being said, enjoying your meals and eating good food does not include the fast food restaurants that you’re guaranteed to eat at when driving to your destination.

Time is money, and when it comes to travel, you’re always on a schedule. In those instances, you can almost guarantee that you’re going to be stopping at fast food joints when it comes time to eat. Even though this may seem like a treat, it’s far from it, and your body will feel it!
